Hi! Thank you for taking the time to find out about the work in Lanarkshire. This is the area where I am from and I am excited to be working here. Our aim is to give every child and young person in Lanarkshire the opportunity to explore the Bible and form a response to what they learn. If you would like to support SU Scotland’s work in the region, have any ideas, or would like to get involved, please get in touch.

Below is a snap shot of what is happening within the region. If you would like to know more, please register for our termly newsletter and monthly email updates, which you can do on this page. Also, there are so many opportunities to further the good news, we always need more volunteers! If time is too limited to volunteer, you can support the region in prayer, or financially – which you can do on this page too. The more people involved in volunteering and giving - the more we can do!!

PRAYER

In everything we do at SU Scotland, we want to be dependent on God in prayer.

We have an amazing team of volunteers in Lanarkshire who already support us in prayer. If you would like to join us in praying for the region there are various ways you can do this. If you would like to pray for a specific school then you could visit our Pray for Schools page where you can register and help us in our vision to have every school in Scotland prayed for. Or you could join us online at our monthly Lanarkshire Prayer Meeting. Simply get in touch for more details.

SU Scotland run a number of prayer events throughout the year which you are very welcome to attend. Please visit the events page on our SU Scotland website or contact me for more details.

SCHOOLS

SU Groups are extra-curricular activity clubs which generally form part of a school’s informal curriculum and run either at lunchtime or after school. There are many SU Groups running across Lanarkshire and we are hugely thankful to the incredible volunteers who serve in these.

I’d love for there to be an SU Group in every school. Schools are generally very enthusiastic about having an SU Group but there is a shortage of volunteers. If you would like to know more about groups in your area or if you are interested in being involved, then please do get in touch.

I also support schools by leading Religious Observance assemblies, and working within classrooms delivering RME. I use the programme Bible Alive to teach RME which helps pupils to engage with the entire storyline of the Bible in an interactive way through storytelling and British Sign Language.

CHURCHeS

It is an incredible privilege to have the support of so many churches in the region. There is such a sense of community as churches work together in partnership to reach the children and young people in their areas.

I would love to support you in any way I can. Please do get in touch if you would like support running a holiday club or mission, equipping youth leaders, organising a curriculum event (such as Easter Code) for your church or if you would like me to visit and share about the work of SU Scotland.

Additionally, for creative, practical, and realistic ways in which your congregation can support their local school, please visit the Serve Your Local School website.

HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS

I love SU Holidays, I attended my first one at the age of 14 where I discovered for myself what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus. SU Holidays have been life changing for me and are a great way to develop relationships, engage with Bible teaching and have a lot of fun!!

Find out more on the SU Holidays website or get in touch to request holiday publicity to promote the holidays at your church.

We also run Lanarkshire Primary and Secondary weekends at Lendrick Muir. These residential events are fantastic with loads of fun activities and great opportunities to ask questions and learn more about God and what it means to follow Jesus.

The Secondary weekend for young people in S1-6 takes place in November and the Primary weekend for children in P5-7 is in February. Go to the SU Holidays website for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to read about some of the things that are happening in Lanarkshire. SU Scotland is one big family and I’d love for you to be part of it. If you can support the work by praying, giving or volunteering then please do get in contact.
