North Edinburgh includes Broughton High School, Craigmount High School, Craigroyston Community High School, Queensferry High School and The Royal High Secondary School, as well as all their feeder primaries. Also included in the area are Oaklands and Rowanfield special schools.
There are SU Groups in several of these schools, run at lunchtime or after school by fabulous and committed volunteers. I aim to support these volunteers in whatever way I can. As es-team workers, we support the work that is already taking place in schools by churches and volunteers, as well as seeking opportunities to go into new schools by taking assemblies, RME classes, leading Christmas and Easter presentations and Bible Alive.
I also help with DIME (Discipleship in Muirhouse Estate), a group which meets every Thursday evening (and a lot of other times during the week!), which is run by an outstanding group of volunteers who give themselves tirelessly to the work amongst S1-S6 young people. They provide a fun, welcoming and safe place for these young people, and through their work, young people are discovering Jesus for themselves.
In all of these aspects of the work of es-team in North Edinburgh, we want to see children and young people explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus, and it is a wonderful privilege to be involved in that.
If you would be interested in getting involved in an existing group, to start a group in a school, to pray for all that is going on or to give financially to this work, I’d love to hear from you. We are very grateful to everyone who partners with us in a whole host of ways, and know that we do this together.
