Paul joined the Board of Scripture Union as a trustee in 2023, having seen the impact of Scripture Union camps and ministries in the lives of his children and many other young people. He is Chief Executive of Public Health Scotland, an NHS Board responsible for preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health and wellbeing. Before joining Public Health Scotland, Paul held a variety of leadership roles in the Scottish Government, as Director General for Education and Justice, and latterly as Director General for Communities. Paul lives in Kirkliston with his wife, Elizabeth, and two teenage sons. He is a member of Kirkliston Community Church.
