Gap Year 2023/24
Thank you for reading about my gap year. I am excited about the year ahead of me. I chose to do a Gap Year with Scripture Union Scotland because going into youthwork is an option I’m considering, and I think this year could give me some good experience to help me decide. I also wanted to grow in my relationship with God and do something to serve Him.
I am really looking forward to working in a Christian environment and seeing where my strengths lie and how I can use them to serve God and other people. I’m also really looking forward to seeing the different aspects of youthwork and meeting lots of new people. I know I will be pushed out of my comfort zone, so I’m hoping to grow as a person as a result of this. Growing in faith as well as becoming more confident sharing my faith with others.
In my free time I really enjoy going for walks, being outside, and spending time with friends. I like reading, listening to, and somewhat questionably, playing music.
I have opted for the gap:fusion placement where I will be splitting the year between Edinburgh and Lendrick Muir. Initially based in Edinburgh, on a gap:local placement helping with SU groups, volunteering in schools and local community events. Then in February, moving to Lendrick Muir for a gap:centre placement, based primarily with the schools team, welcoming schools to the centre. As well as training, wider SU events and SU Holidays.
