  • Salary: £17,391 - £18,313 (depending upon experience) plus accommodation.

Who we are

Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity, with around 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. 

Our centres regularly host school groups participating in residential experiences, youth groups enjoying weekend breaks and a variety of SU Holidays. Making the most of the stunning opportunities that Scotland’s countryside affords, we use outdoor activities to build relationships with young people, enabling them to have fun, develop new skills and work together.  

We currently have a vacancy for an Activities Instructor to be based at our Lendrick Muir Centre, near Kinross. Lendrick Muir is set in 120 acres of grounds with accommodation for up to 150 guests.  

Purpose 

As an Activities Instructor, you will be part of an instruction team, delivering a range of activities to our guests. You will also support the development of new activities and maintain the activity equipment and infrastructure.  

key Responsibilities

  • Play an integral part of the outdoor instructional team, leading and instructing outdoor activity sessions 
  • Assisting the Activities Manager with the training of the Trainee Activities Instructors; both on-site activities and working towards NGBs 
  • Look after guests during school residentials, including some evening work 
  • Participate fully in the life and ministry of the Lendrick Muir Centre and the wider Scripture Union Scotland organisation 

 

Who we are looking for

We are seeking applicants who have a passion for outdoor activities and a desire to use their faith to work with children and young people. Applicants for this post should have experience of instructing activities and hold two NGB Award (either CWI, BC Paddlesport Leader or MTB Level 2) and training towards a third NGB, as well as holding a current first aid certificateFurther NGB awards would be beneficialA full UK Driving License is essential (preferably with D1 + E). 

For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.  

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
