Where is God during Covid-19? Lockdowns, shutdowns, cancellations, ‘bubbles’ and facemasks in school - 2020 has been the strangest year. This new Bible-based resource from SU Scotland – four sessions for primary groups and four for secondary – is designed to show children and young people that in a global pandemic or whatever trials we face, we can trust that God’s Got This.

Primary School Sessions

Session 1: Joseph – Why did it happen?

We will all go through difficult times and this may feel unfair. However, God wants us to trust in him to bring us through those times; he is often working through the troubles to bring good in a way we don’t expect and may not understand.

Session 2: Elijah – I’ve had enough!

An opportunity to help the children think about the things in life they find tough and how they can take them to God who is there and understands. As with Elijah, God may not take away our problems, but he is with us and will help us face them.

Session 3: Paul – Trapped!

This session aims to address the feelings of frustration at virus-related restrictions by pointing the children to Paul’s example of life in lockdown. God can help us like he helped Paul. And like Paul, we can make good memories of telling others about Jesus.

Session 4: Ezra and Nehemiah – A new normal?

To see that the point of life – to know God and show others how amazing he is – remains the same, even if things are different.

Secondary School Sessions

Session 1: Joseph – Why did it happen?

Session 2: Elijah – I’ve had enough!

We think the challenges we face are tough and big, but God is bigger. As with Elijah, God may not take away our problems, but he is with us and will help us face them.

Session 3: Paul – Trapped!

For many young people living under virus-related restrictions, the feeling will be that there is so much they cannot do. This session aims to address those feelings by pointing them to Paul’s example and consider if his life was pointless and if he used his time under lockdown well?

Session 4: Ezra and Nehemiah – A new normal?

To see that the point of life – to know God and show others how amazing he is – remains the same, even if things are different.
