Following the latest Scottish Government Guidelines, school residentials can resume, within restrictions at each Level. Therefore, we are delighted to offer school activity days and residentials at our centres. Please get in touch to discuss how we can accommodate your group. (July 2021)

In the current situation our staff will be working from home wherever possible. Please use the Contact Us page to send us a message, or email info@suscotland.org.uk and someone will get back to you or pass on your request to the relevant department.

Scripture Union Scotland are a charity who seek to see the children and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

We work in schools throughout Scotland, supporting Curriculum for Excellence, taking part in assemblies and supporting extra-curricular groups. During the school holidays SU Scotland runs an extensive programme of events for school age children, with over 3000 people attending residential holidays and many more being involved in holiday clubs and missions.

Find out more about what we do.

Scripture Union Scotland works right across the churches in Scotland and seeks to partner with everyone who has similar aims. We do not have a special relationship with any one church or denomination. We do see ourselves as part of the wider church and all the work we do with children and young people should feed them into commitment to a local church. We expect our staff and volunteers to be committed to local churches and would never encourage anyone to see SU Scotland as an alternative to commitment to a local fellowship of Christians.

Scripture Union Scotland no longer run a bookshop or sell books, materials or bible reading notes and other associated literature. Instead, these are produced by Scripture Union England & Wales. Visit their online shop.

If you are looking to visit a bookshop in person, we would encourage you to visit Faith Mission bookshops.

Scripture Union Scotland is a self-governing, autonomous movement that is affiliated to the SU International movement. SU in England and Wales is similarly an autonomous movement. We seek to work closely with our colleagues in SU England and Wales and also those in the independent movements in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Our relationship with these other SU movements is warm and mutually supportive and we seek to share ideas and resources whenever possible. SU England and Wales is a major publisher and we benefit hugely from the books and resources they produce. We also have opportunity to feed into their publishing programme.

SU Scotland is primarily funded by individual supporters. Our supporters generously support the ministry, many committing to give regularly to the work and others responding to specific appeals which they have opted to receive. Individuals also provide support through legacies. Churches contribute funds, sometimes in support of church members who work for SU Scotland. Other major sources of funding include Trusts and other grant-making bodies, the latter including some government money. We have no committed support from government.

SU Scotland seeks to works closely with school authorities and only enters a school by invitation from a Head Teacher. Our starting point is that every child and young person in Scotland has the right to hear about Jesus, so that they can explore and respond to his significance. In the context of both the formal and informal curriculum we seek to encourage children and young people to explore the Christian faith for themselves, without pressure or manipulation.
