SU Groups Lighting Up Scotland

As the new school year begins, SU Groups are restarting in schools up and down the country. SU Groups are extra-curricular groups that place in primary, secondary and Additional Support Needs (ASN) schools, empowering children and young people to explore the Christian faith.

Last year, 80 new groups were launched, bringing the total to around 400 groups. These 400 groups are attended weekly by over 5000 children and young people during school lunch breaks or after school; that’s 5000 young people throughout Scotland choosing to meet around God’s Word during their school day!

SU Groups are run through our Local Ministries Team, often led by SU Scotland-trained volunteers. Some groups are run by Pupil Leaders who have attended our Equip Pupil Leader Training. Last year, 66 young people attended this training, giving them the tools to lead and share their faith within their schools.

Our SU Groups allow Christian children and young people to meet together at school, but they also draw many others who are curious to explore the Bible while enjoying fun, games and good chat with their friends.

"Our SU group gives us an amazing opportunity for us to access our local primary school, to teach and share the love of Jesus with the pupils and teachers."

 “It’s a safe quiet place with people who also love Jesus away from the noise at school.”
