Family, Youth and Schools’ Worker | Radiate Cathcart

- Salary: £14,560 pro-rata based on a 20-hour week
- Responsible to: Radiate Cathcart Senior Development Worker and Radiate Cathcart Trustees (representing Cathcart Baptist Church, Cathcart Church of Scotland and Cathcart United Free Church).

Overview
Radiate Cathcart is currently recruiting for a Christian Family, Youth and Schools Worker to work alongside our ministry lead.
Together with volunteers they will be responsible for supporting children, young people, and families through church-based ministry, community outreach, and partnerships with local schools. The role combines pastoral care, discipleship, relationship-building, and practical support
Purpose
To develop the ministry among our children, young people, and families, helping them explore and grow in the Christian faith while strengthening links between the church, local schools, and the wider community.
Responsibilities
Youth Ministry
- Plan, organise, and lead youth groups, Bible studies, and social activities.
- Build positive relationships with young people and encourage their spiritual growth.
- Support young people through mentoring, pastoral care, and discipleship.
- Recruit, train, and support youth volunteers.
Children's and Family Ministry
- Develop activities and programmes for children and families.
- Support parents and carers in nurturing faith at home.
- Help coordinate family services, holiday clubs, and special events.
- Create welcoming opportunities for families to engage with church life.
Schools Work
- Build and maintain relationships with local schools.
- Lead assemblies, workshops, lunchtime clubs, and Christian lessons where invited.
- Support schools through chaplaincy-style presence and pastoral care.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff on projects that benefit pupils and families.
Community Engagement
- Develop outreach initiatives that connect with families in the local area.
- Work with community organisations and agencies where appropriate.
- Promote inclusion and encourage participation from people of all backgrounds.
- Identify needs within the community and help coordinate practical support.
Administration and Leadership
- Manage budgets and resources for youth and family activities.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain records, reports, and communication materials.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to the church's wider mission and vision.
