Overview
St Andrews Baptist Church is seeking to appoint a full-time Children, Youth, and Families Worker. The post will help build a vibrant Christ-centred ministry for children (0-11), young people (12–18), and families, supporting discipleship, growth, and outreach within the church and the wider St Andrews community.
The appointment comes at a significant moment in the life of the church. In recent years, much of our work with children, young people, and families has been sustained by volunteers and temporary arrangements. While this has allowed ministries to continue, we are now seeking to grow this work in deeper, more intentional, and sustainable ways. This appointment reflects a commitment to invest in discipleship, intergenerational life, and meaningful outreach within St Andrews and the surrounding area.
About the Church
St Andrews Baptist Church is a community of Christians in North East Fife who seek to follow Jesus and share God’s love. We are an intergenerational church community seeking to follow Jesus Christ and share His love with others. Located in St Andrews, we are a town-centre church with a mix of families, students, and long-term residents. Our life together is shaped by worship, prayer, Scripture, discipleship groups, and a growing desire to participate in God’s mission locally and beyond.
Our church is a part of the Baptist Union of Scotland network of churches.
Purpose
The person appointed will support the church in continuing to build a vibrant, Christ-centred ministry for children, young people, and families by facilitating discipleship, growth, and outreach into the local community. The post also exists to ensure that children, young people, and families are fully included in the life of the church. The successful applicant will demonstrate ability to achieve these goals in line with the constitution of St Andrews Baptist Church.
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the church safeguarding team, the worker will help ensure that safeguarding policy and best practice are implemented and adhered to in all work related to children, young people, and families.
- The role also includes partnership and outreach, working with other churches and Christian groups, supporting collaborations across St Andrews and beyond, building relationships with families outside the church family, and exploring new initiatives and ministry opportunities.
- Families’ ministry will involve working with families, staff, leadership, volunteers, and young people to create and maintain engaging and creative activities that deepen faith, support parents and carers, and encourage intergenerational relationships.
