International Project
Scripture Union ministry takes place in around 130 countries, all over the world. Every year a different country is selected as the focus for our International Project, with the aim of helping Scottish children and young people learn about SU ministry in another place. The International Project is promoted at SU Holidays and Missions. For more information on this year’s project, email suholidays@suscotland.org.uk.
Open Bible, Ukraine
SU in Ukraine is known as ‘Open Bible’. We support their ministry financially and in prayer. Despite the war, Open Bible persevere in ministry to run Bible clubs, residential camps and day camps for local children and maintain a small but passionate staff team, led by Director Grigori Stupak. SU Scotland compiles Open Bible prayer updates several times a year and a weekly prayer meeting is held on Zoom.
SU Belarus
Being a follower of Jesus in some countries is not easy and yet SU ministry continues, with well-established camps and a vision to help small churches grow children’s ministry.
SU Rwanda
Ministry involves camps, SU Groups in schools, youth ministry training, a café and a radio programme as well as literature distribution. In previous years groups of young people have gone from Scotland to take part in Respond Rwanda mission trips.
SU in a restricted country
Prayer support is given to ministry in a country in Asia which cannot be named, and when possible, hospitality and church visits are given on visits to the UK.
SU Hungary
Our Gap Year programme includes a mission trip overseas. Since 2023 our gap year have travelled to Budapest to join Hungarian volunteers in delivering English camps to local children – teaching English, sharing Bible stories, testimonies, songs, memory verses – deepening relationships and having fun!
SU India
We have a longstanding relationship with SU India and distribute their prayer news to those who request it.
Ministry at the Margins - International focus
With our focus on ministry with children and young people at the margins, we are giving attention towards children and young people in Scotland, here as refugees and asylum seekers, many of whom are unaccompanied. We have the privilege of working in partnership with local churches and projects to offer displaced young people from a variety of nations access to SU Holidays. We have also offered Ukrainian Refugee Family Holidays and are seeking to grow ministry within these communities.
