Rachel Cooney

Rachel was introduced to SU from a young age, enjoying years of holiday clubs and camps before going on to lead SU clubs in primary schools and joining the team for the February Weekend at Lendrick Muir. Rachel joined the Board in 2025 having seen the impact of SU camps and ministries in the lives of children and young people in Edinburgh.

Rachel is the Director of Children's Ministry at Ps & Gs Church, a large city-centre Episcopal church in Edinburgh. Rachel oversees Sunday Groups for 0-11s, a weekly Babies & Toddlers group, a weekly Parents Group, monthly events for different age groups, discipleship courses, a Baby Bank, and monthly Prayer Breakfast for Youth and Children’s workers across Edinburgh. Rachel has two children and her husband works alongside her at Ps & Gs as their Facilities Manager. Rachel loves books, the outdoors and photography. She is passionate about outdoor learning, play-based learning, trauma-informed practice, social justice, discipleship, leadership and creating opportunities for people of all ages to encounter Jesus.
