Thank you for reading about my gap year. I am excited about the year ahead of me. While attending SU holidays and events over the past year, the Gap Year kept being recommended to me, to the point it got my attention. I feel this is something God is calling me to do, so I decided to just apply for it and trust God. Over the years I have grown to love SU, attending events like Go Conference and the Lanarkshire Secondary Weekend, and helping to set up an SU group in my school. As my school days are coming to an end, it’s now time for a new adventure where I can further grow in faith and flourish! I am excited to do that as part of the SU community.
I am looking forward to meeting new people and working with young people. Although it will be challenging, I am excited to see how God will use me through His Spirit for His glory. I hope to develop more confidence with speaking in front of crowds and learning more leadership skills, particularly when leading larger groups.
In my spare time I like to go on walks with my dogs and family, I also like to go out with my friends and go to worship events.
I have chosen to do a gap:local placement with SU Scotland. I will be based in Lanarkshire and Glasgow. My placement will involve going into schools to help at SU groups, assemblies and RE lessons, community groups and working with local Churches and special events for Christmas and Easter. I will also have the opportunity to study for a qualification in Youth and Children’s Work. As well as this, there will be training and discipleship, wider SU events, camps and holiday clubs, and an international mission trip.
