Hello! My name is Jill Young and I'm the Ayrshire Regional Worker. I've been a supporter and volunteer for SU Scotland for many years. I'm so excited to be a part of the SU Scotland family and to get involved in all the exciting things God is doing across Ayrshire. Here’s some of the things I will be involved in as part of my role.

Prayer

As Christians, we believe that everything we do should be underpinned by prayer. We are incredibly grateful to those who have faithfully prayed for the work of SU Scotland across Ayrshire.

We have a desire for every school in Scotland to be a prayed for school. If you would like more information on praying for a local school in Ayrshire, please visit our Pray for Schools page and sign up to pray for your local school. By signing up, you have the option to be linked with others praying for this school or simply let us know that someone is remembering that school as we aim to see every school in Scotland covered in prayer.

Local Ministry Hubs

A key way we are looking to grow the ministry of SU Scotland is through Local Ministry Hubs. What is a Local Ministry Hub I hear you ask? A local ministry hub is a group meeting to pray specifically for a Secondary School and its associated Primary Schools, meeting once or twice a term to pray for each school and working together to bring meaningful Christian contact to the schools in that cluster. It could be chaplaincy, an SU Group, Bible Alive, RME Lessons or something else that builds the relationship and opens the door in that school. If you would like to join a local ministry hub in your area of Ayrshire, visit our Local Ministry Hubs Page and sign up.

Schools

We have 168 schools across North, South and East Ayrshire, educating over 62,000 pupils! SU Groups are an extra-curricular activity which run either during a lunch time or after school. They are run by dedicated and faithful volunteers and provide an opportunity for children and young people to explore the Bible in a safe environment. Everyone is welcome at an SU Group - from any faith background, or none.

Currently we have lots of schools without an SU Group, so if you would like to hear about opportunities to serve in this way, please contact Julie Bain, our Schools Ministry Co-ordinator for Ayrshire.

Churches

Relationships with local churches are key to the work of SU Scotland and we're so fortunate to have such fantastic links with Churches and Youth Leaders across Ayrshire already. If you would like your church to get involved, or you would like a visit from me, please get in touch.

Residentials

Each year we hold the Ayrshire Primary Weekend (P5-P7) in April and the Ayrshire Secondary Weekend (S1-S6) in November and I am so excited to be a part of this, along with our amazing team of volunteers. Residentials provide an excellent opportunity to develop relationships, deepen Bible teaching and have lots of fun with the young people who come along. If you or your child or young person would like to come along, please get in touch. There are also a whole range of week long and weekend holidays run by SU Scotland throughout the year covering everything from skiing, to singing, or sketching and much, much more! Check out the SU Holidays Website for more info.
