Hello! I’m Gemma and I'm the Regional Worker for East and Midlothian. I’ve been involved in working with children and young people in a variety of different contexts over the years, including running more camps than I can remember, doing youthwork under sail and working in a primary school. Before taking on this role with SU Scotland I was the Youth Development Worker at my church in Edinburgh for 9 years, where I had the privilege of discipling many young people and running a youth café that had close links with our local high school.

I'm excited to be part of what God is already doing in East and Midlothian, as we work together to give every child and young person the opportunity to explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.

Below is a brief overview of what's going on across the region, but if you'd like to receive regular updates please sign up for my newsletter through the form at the bottom of this page. If you would like to get involved through praying, volunteering or giving financially, I'd love to connect with you!

Prayer

One of our core values at SU Scotland is dependence on God and we express this through prayer as a key part of all that we do. We are so grateful for those who pray with us and for us. One of the ways you can join us in praying is by committing to pray for a school through Pray for Schools Scotland.

Local Ministry Hubs

A key way we’re looking to expand our ministry is through forming local ministry hubs around every high school cluster, meeting once or twice a term to pray for each school and working together to serve local schools. If you’d like to be involved in a hub, I’d love to hear from you!

Schools

Schools work is integral to the work of SU Scotland and this wouldn’t be possible without an amazing team of volunteers who run SU Groups and work together to deliver Bible Alive and Christmas & Easter presentations, which support Scotland’s RME curriculum.

There are a number of SU groups already running across East and Midlothian but we’d love to see SU groups established in even more schools, as well as opportunities to deliver Bible Alive and Christmas/Easter presentations! If you live in East or Midlothian, with a passion for your local schools, please get in touch to explore how we can support you to get involved.

Churches

SU Scotland aims to work in partnership with churches to reach children and young people in their local communities. Without the prayers, financial and practical support of churches, much of what we do would not be possible. If you would like to know more about how we could partner together then please get in touch.

Holidays and Weekends

Residentials are a great way for children and young people to build friendships with other young people their own age, to explore the Bible together and have a lot of fun! To find out more or to book a place please visit suholidays.org.uk.
