Dylan Colquhoun
Thank you for reading about my gap year. I am excited about the year ahead of me.
My faith impacts my life daily. Knowing that Jesus died on the cross to save me, and that God made me and has a plan for my life. This gives me a peace in my life. I decided to do SU Scotland’s Gap Year because I felt God calling me to share this with others, to spread the Word of God to the next generation that’s coming up. I am also hoping to grow and understand my own faith better.
I am excited for all the many different people I will meet during my year, from the other Gap Years, to the team at Lendrick Muir, to the young people who come to the centre. I’m interested to hear other people’s stories of how they came to faith, as well as how they live out their Christian life.
One of the things I’m hoping to grow in is my ability to speak with people of all ages, and to better understand where they’re coming from so we can best serve them.
In my spare time I really enjoy listening to Indie pop music and podcasts, lifting weights at the gym or playing football with a group of people from my Church.
I have opted for the gap:centre placement where I will be based at Lendrick Muir. I will be working primarily with the school's team, welcoming schools to the centre. As well as this, I’ll help with activities and on the catering and house teams as we get the centre ready for each new group that comes in. I’ve always enjoyed SU’s Gaming activities, so as they are based out of Lendrick Muir, I will also be able to help out at Gaming Weekends and E-Sports days. There will be training and discipleship, wider SU events, camps and holiday clubs, and an international mission trip.
