I am really excited about the year ahead and all that it will bring. In my own life I’m so grateful for SU’s influence over the years, which has helped me in my own discipleship journey. This year I will especially value getting the opportunity to grow more spiritually and it will allow me the opportunity to further develop and discover the gifts that God has given me. Through the Gap Year programme I will also be working alongside lots of experienced Christians from many different contexts and this will be a great opportunity for me to grow in my knowledge and understanding too.
I am also really looking forward to being able to give back to an organisation who has given so much to me, so being able to be a part of discipling other young people and journeying with them as they explore their own faith is something that really excites me. I want to use this year to help me grow in my love for Jesus, His Church, and those who are lost, whilst doing his work practically too.
In my spare time, I will continue to explore my passions, including engaging with creative media, scrapbooking/journalling, playing music and learning about the amazing world we live in.
I have a passion for building community and sharing God’s love with young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and so I have opted for the gap:margins placement. I am excited that I will be based in Glasgow. This will allow me to build relationships with the young people I work with and journey with them as they explore their faith. I will also be involved in leading Bible Alive, which is an RME course SU offers to schools, that teaches the story of the Bible in a very fun and engaging way. As well as this, there will also be opportunities for training and studying, being involved in wider SU events and Holidays and an international mission trip too.
