Motiv8 Holidays
Motiv8 Holidays and Weekends
We recognise that a standard SU Holiday for young people from Scotland's poorest communities may be one or two steps too far. That's why we have been delivering Motiv8 Holidays for many years offering the same life-changing time away, but with the extra support and more relaxed boundaries that young people may require.
Partnering with local churches and youth projects, we want Motiv8 Holidays to be residential experiences for young people where they can grow in friendships and faith.
Motiv8 Holidays are more suited for young people who may benefit from:
- A relaxed programme
- Realistic expectations around cultural norms, language and Bible engagement
- Later bedtimes and morning start times
- Shorter length of residential
- Higher ratio of adults to young people
Young people are referred rather than booked directly through a local church or youth project they connect with regularly. These partners send adults on the team whom the young people already know.
All Motiv8 Holidays are heavily subsidised through the generosity of supporters through the SU Holidays Sponsorship Fund.

Volunteer on a Motiv8 Holiday
You don't need to have had experience of working with young people from priority communities, although that would certainly help. What you do need is a willingness to learn, lots of energy, patience, and a heart to see children and young people from difficult backgrounds meet Jesus.
