New free RME resource for ASN Secondary Schools
SU Scotland is thrilled to be launching its first series of RME resources designed specifically for young people with additional support needs (ASN) in secondary education. The ‘Who is Jesus?’ lesson series was written by teachers and successfully piloted in ASN Secondary Schools and refined to ensure that it offers adaptability for teachers to meet the needs of all their early and first level learners.
Who is Jesus? is fully aligned with the Scottish RME curriculum, making this resource also ideal for learners in Support for Learning units in mainstream schools. It explores where Christians get their beliefs and practices through sensory, tactile experiences where learners develop their opinion, assess, evaluate and have fun.
A Teacher’s Guide is provided, outlining the Experiences and Outcomes and Milestone opportunities relevant to this learning. There are seven easy-to-use lesson packs in total, each including: a lesson plan, PowerPoint presentation including original illustrations, and a range of engaging activities.
Our ASN Development Coordinator, Elaine Tait, said:
“I’m excited to see this resource come together and fill a gap in Scottish schools for high quality RME resources tailored specifically for teachers in Secondary ASN schools to use with early and first level learners. We are already working on a further series that we hope to launch later this year.”
