Lendrick Muir: Development Project Goes Out To Tender
With design work now completed, we’re excited that the tender stage for the Lendrick Muir development has now begun, with a number of main contractors engaged in quoting for the project.
The process of getting to this stage was extended to ensure the final design represented sufficient value for money and was as sustainable as possible.
During this process, projected costs for the project rose, due to various factors including the rising cost of raw materials and fuel.
At the same time, we have been delighted and overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters so far. We are so thankful and amazed by the goodness of God, as our initial funding target was reached by the end of September.
However, as the tender stage concludes, the actual costs of the project will become clear. We are hopeful, as funding continues to come in for this ambitious project, we will be able to revert to including design aspects that we had to strip out.
We continue to welcome donations of all sizes as we look to close the remaining need, estimated to be in the region of £1.5m.
We expect to appoint a contractor by the end of 2026 so that construction can begin in early 2027. Work is already underway to empty the Glendevon accommodation wing in preparation for demolition.
SU Scotland’s Chief Executive Officer, Robin MacLellan said:
“We are so thankful to every supporter who has donated so generously and sacrificially to our Growing Lendrick Muir appeal, and to the trusts and foundations who have supported us so far. We give glory to God for his provision. This project will future-proof Lendrick Muir, so we can continue in our vision to see every child and young person in Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are excited for the next stages of the development and hope, with continued funding, to be able to deliver the full package of what is envisioned for Lendrick Muir.”
We are welcoming anyone who has a connection with ministry taking place in Glendevon over the years to come along to an event on Saturday 31 October, 2.00pm-4.00pm. This will be an opportunity for staff, volunteers and supporters to say their final farewells to Glendevon, sharing memories and giving thanks for how God has used this part of the building over the years.
