Go Deeper with Source

Over 5000 young people across Scotland are projected to have used our ‘Source’ Bible engagement tool since its introduction last year.

Source gets young people talking about God’s Word for themselves, with an accessible five-question structure, represented by five simple symbols, that can be used one-to-one or in a group setting.

This year we have created a brand-new expansion pack, including a Go Deeper Guide and Source-themed post-it notes. The Go Deeper Guide categorises books of the Bible into the genres of law, history, wisdom, poetry, prophesy, gospels & acts, and letters. Young people can easily identify the genre of the Bible passage they are reading and look up an additional genre-specific question to dig a bit deeper when they are reflecting on what they have read. For example, when reading a New Testament letter, it asks, ‘How does this encourage or challenge the church to live differently?’ The post-it notes allow young people to take short notes against each symbol of the Source method, helping them record their reflections.

In July we ran an opt-in seminar about Source at Magnitude Festival and over 200 young people came along to find out how to explore the Bible for themselves.

One young person later fed back: “I was really stuck on how to go about reading the Bible, I didn’t know where to start or what to do. Using the Source method has really unlocked the Bible for me and I now spend time reading and reflecting on some verses from the Bible every day. My Bible is filling up with the post-it notes!”
