1,500 free illustrated Mark’s Gospels for campers!
This summer, we are delighted to be giving out illustrated Mark’s Gospels to many of the children and young people attending SU Holidays. The teaching at several SU Holidays will be based on the animated film, The King of Kings, which is based on Mark’s Gospel.
We want to enable the children and young people to dig deeper after their holiday and read Mark’s Gospel for themselves.
The Scottish Bible Society has designed an A4 edition of Mark’s Gospel that is ideal for this purpose, and we are giving away 1,500. This publication is full of eye-catching images that bring the stories of Jesus to life and support readers in their understanding of the text.
The full text of Mark’s Gospel is taken from the New International Reader’s Version of the Bible, which has simpler words and shorter sentences. This makes it suitable for all readers including those who find reading difficult, early readers, or readers whose first language is not English.
Each chapter ends with a Ponder Page, which encourages readers to take time to consider what has happened in that chapter. There are also useful extra pages, including a glossary of unfamiliar words and a map.
SU Scotland’s Creative Director, Jenny Hamill, said: “This publication provides a fresh way to encourage children and young people to explore the Bible for themselves. We are very grateful to the Scottish Bible Society for producing these beautiful Mark’s Gospels and we’re considering further opportunities to get them into the hands of the children we come into contact with through our various ministry streams.”
