Salary: £24,785 - £26,000 per annum for full time, pro-rated for part time
Contract: Part time with average of 17.5 hours per week, with potential flexibility to work additional hours during school term and less hours during school holidays; Fixed term for 3 years with potential to extend

Who We Are

A number of local Churches in and around Larbert came to a jointly held view that a Christian Schools Worker could provide much needed social and spiritual development of young people attending Larbert High School and its associated Primary Schools. Following much prayer and preparation over a number of years, the Larbert Churches Youth Trust was formed by these congregations in May 2009.

Larbert Churches Youth Trust helps young people in the Larbert High School catchment area, its associated primary schools, and local churches explore the values and challenges of the Christian Gospel. Based in an office provided by Larbert High School and supported by volunteers, LCYT's work is now established across these schools. The Trust also partners with Scripture Union Scotland through its Associate Trusts scheme.

Purpose

The schools' workers help deliver the Trust's charitable purpose by developing and supporting activities across the Larbert High School catchment area, its associated primary schools, and local churches. This includes SU Groups, Bible Alive, camps drop-in groups, the Flourish programme, cafés, Holiday Clubs, transition support from primary to secondary school, pastoral support for teachers, and support for school trips.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the LCYT management group and trustees, the LCYT full-time worker and volunteers in the area and local churches, you would be involved in:

Working alongside full-time worker in the schools’ ministry of LCYT
Working with local churches
Creating opportunities for discipleship with children and young people in the area
Working with full-time worker to develop a strategy for residential ministry in the area
Working alongside full-time worker in the smooth administration of the work
Raising prayer and financial support to enable ministry to happen within the area.

Who we are looking for

The successful applicant will work closely alongside the existing LCYT staff member to support and develop LCYT's ministry across the local area. The idea candidate will have experience of working in schools and Christian ministry among children and/or young people, as well as experience of leading and supporting volunteer teams. They will be confident in communication Biblical truth in an engaging and age appropriate way to young people across a wide range of ages. The role will be based, in part, at an office within Larbert High School, and the successful applicant will be committed to building relationships, identifying opportunities, and contributing to the ongoing development of LCYT's ministry in the area.

For this post, it is important that you able to demonstrate a commitment to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
