WHO WE ARE

Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity, with around 150 staff and over 2,500 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

Our centres regularly host school groups participating in residential experiences, youth groups enjoying weekend breaks and a variety of SU Holidays. Making the most of the stunning opportunities that Scotland’s countryside affords, we use outdoor activities to build relationships with young people, enabling them to have fun, develop new skills and work together.

We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant House manager to be based at our Lendrick Muir Centre, near Kinross. Lendrick Muir is set in 120 acres of grounds with accommodation for 163 guests.

PURPOSE

As a deputy to the Lendrick Muir House Team Manager and working as part of the house team, you will provide a high standard of guest service to all visitors at Lendrick Muir.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the House Manager in the delivery of the housekeeping functions, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the centre.
  • Take responsibility for restocking chemicals and cleaning materials as required.
  • Organise a deep cleaning schedule.
  • Supervise the house team when required to do so by the House Manager.
  • Assist with implementation of relevant health and safety controls (e.g COSHH controls).
  • Provide IT support for key house functions such as budget preparation and rotas.
  • Occasionally assisting other departments, as required.
  • Participate fully in the life and ministry of the Lendrick Muir Centre and the wider Scripture Union Scotland organisation.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking applicants who enjoy working alongside others and who are committed to providing a high standard of guest service. Ideally the applicant would have experience in the hospitality industry and understand safe working practices in a commercial context. Evidence of the ability to communicate calmly and effectively using both verbal and written methods is essential.

For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
