Programme

11:20 Sessions

Volunteers: Duty to refer – Janice Aitken, Volunteers Manager with SU Scotland

A session to explain an Associate Trust’s Duty to Refer under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Legislation. The session will cover the Trust’s responsibility to have a Referrals Policy and the situations where either the Trust or SU Scotland have a duty to refer someone to Disclosure Scotland. The session will include some practical scenarios.

Caring for your Associate Worker –  Bruce Lockhart, Missions Development Manager with SU Scotland

We flourish when we are valued, appreciated and cared for. But how do we do this well? A good starting point is to ask: How well do we know our workers? During the session, we will explore the concepts of support and challenge. One complements the other and takes time as we invest in our worker.

13:15 Sessions

Employment Law updates - Rachel Causey, SU Scotland’s HR Partner

Rachel will provide us with an update on current/future employment legislation and how this will impact employers. She will also cover additional HR topics such as recruitment, staff development and wellbeing. Rachel is very happy to answer any general HR questions, so please do email her at hr@suscotland.org.uk by 21 February if you have any burning questions.

Growing our teams – Carol Baird, West Team Leader, and Ross Murray, Reachout Trust

From launching or relaunching a Trust, to finding more volunteers because you’ve reached capacity, hear from others and share experiences of what has worked for you. This session will include a look at advertising and social media, how to get the word out to spread the vision! Growing our teams also means investing in our teams. What does that look like and how can we do that well?
