Make a difference with SU Scotland

The ministry of SU Scotland is all about young people – our vision is to provide opportunities for all of Scotland’s children and young people to explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus. That is only possible due to thousands of individuals who give their time, gifts and experience to supporting the ministry in different ways.

Ensuring the charity is well run, meeting all its legal requirements, and faithfully following the leading of God’s Spirit, is one area where volunteers make a huge contribution. SU Scotland’s ministry is overseen by a Board of Trustees and five Board Committees. The Board and Committees are made up of individuals who bring their own unique skillset, experience and expertise to contribute towards supporting the work of the charity. This is also a great opportunity for people to develop their leadership and governance skills and to learn more about the different areas of SU ministry and about God’s heart for Scotland’s children and young people.

Would you be interested in exploring the possibility of serving in this way? There are many areas where the Board and its Committees would value expertise – fundraising, digital media and communications, finance, working with the disadvantaged, to name but a few. If you have a heart to see more young people reached with the good news and have skills or experience that could help support the ministry, why not consider serving as a trustee? The Board meets five or six times a year and trustees serve for an initial period of five years, with a possible extension for a further three. Committees meet three or four times annually. Meetings are usually in the evening. No previous trustee experience is necessary, trustee training will be provided on an ongoing basis.

Over the coming months there will be an informal chat/interview process, including the opportunity to attend a meeting as an observer, with a view to making appointments at the AGM in August.
