Thanks for registering your Back to School with God Sunday service!
After this long period when children and school staff have not been at school, we believe it is even more important than usual to mark the start of the new school year. Many will be anxious at this time; a routine has been broken; the school community needs prayer. With its theme Prayer shapes, Prayer saves, a Back to School with God Sunday service is a great reminder that God is the one who truly hears us and is close to those who pray (Isaiah 145:18-19). There is an opportunity at the end of the service to pray for nursery schools, primary schools, secondary schools and the community in general - plus an ongoing challenge to support children, young people and school staff in prayer.
The all-age service explores the Bible story of Daniel. Daniel faced huge challenges - but his character was shaped by spending time with God in prayer. Prayer not only shaped Daniel: it saved his life, and that of King Darius too, who subsequently came to faith in God.
Explaining the resources
BSG20 An Overview of Resources explains the vision of Back to School with God, and how to approach the service. In this you will find a list of resources and what they are about.
The All-Age Service is the core resource. The service is timed to last approximately one hour. Feel free to adapt by selecting your own praise items and the activity options that work best for your church. A Microsoft Word copy is provided to enable editing and there are accompanying PowerPoint slides, both standard and widescreen format. The PPT Script gives the Bible relates Daniel 6 from the Living Bible with accompanying images on PowerPoint.
To set the context, watch the Video - Introducing Daniel or else invite some people to act out the story using the Script - Introducing Daniel. Supporting the service are a Children's Talk and Children's Crafts, plus a poster.
A Bookmark is also available. Due to current circumstances this is a pdf template, suitable for personal copying.
We hope you enjoy using the resources and have an enjoyable service which encourages and at the same times challenges. After your service, please do send us stories and any feedback you are able to give us.
