Gap Year 2020/21
Thank you for reading about my SU Scotland Gap Year. I am very excited about my upcoming year. I chose to do a gap year with SU Scotland because they are a Christian charity and I really want to take this time to deepen my faith as well as working closer with young people. I will also have the opportunity to experience life away from home, and am looking forward to living at Lendrick Muir as part of a strong Christian community.
I can’t wait to meet and work with new people, both my new colleagues and the young people I will come in contact with throughout the year. I am also excited to be pushed out of my comfort zone. My hope for the year is that I will draw closer to God, as well as exploring if working with children and young people is something God is calling me to do. I also hope to develop my social and communication skills.
In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, spending time with my friends, watching Netflix, and learning to skate.
I have opted for the gap:centre placement and so will be based at Lendrick Muir, SU’s activity centre near Kinross. I will be supervised by Rachel, who is the Schools Programme Manager, and I will be based primarily with the schools team. I will be involved in welcoming schools to the centre, some outdoors activities, thought for the day, meal times, photography, day trips and making sure the kids and staff have an excellent stay. I will also be involved throughout the year in Scotland wide events as well as camps and missions during the holidays.
