Hello and welcome!

My name is Derek and I work for SU Scotland, coordinating our ministry in East and Midlothian. I am delighted to be able to share with you about the work of SU Scotland in East and Midlothian and the opportunities that we provide for children and young people to explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.

An East and Midlothian newsletter with updates on what’s been happening, what’s coming up and prayer points is produced termly. If you would like to receive a copy you can sign up on the form below.

If you have any questions about our work or how to get involved, please get in touch using the contact details above. If you would like to make a financial contribution to SU’s work in East and Midlothian, you can also do that on this page.

I hope the following information fills you with enthusiasm and encouragement as we seek to serve our great and mighty God by sharing his love with the children and young people of East and Midlothian.

The Lord bless you.

Derek

Schools

SU Groups run in primary and secondary schools at lunchtime or after school and involve a wide range of activities such as games, arts and crafts, music and conversation. The central point of all SU Groups is giving children or young people the opportunity to learn about the Bible and its significance for them in the person of Jesus Christ.

Under normal circumstances there are a number of groups running in schools across East and Midlothian, but the majority of our work in schools is on hold at the moment while we wait for health restrictions to be lifted.

As we wait patiently for restrictions to ease, let us continue to pray for all those involved in schools. Children, young people, teachers and local authorities.

Please get in touch if you would like:

  • More information about SU Groups in your local East or Midlothian school.
  • Would like to know more about becoming a volunteer in a school group.
  • If you would like to have an informal conversation about starting an SU Group in your local school and the resources and support that we provide.

Prayer

‘‘If the prayer flame does not burn at the heart of our movement, then all we have stood for will be lost’’

- Dr John Laird of Helensburgh, Scotland, former General Secretary of Scripture Union Worldwide.

At SU Scotland one of our core values is Dependence on God, and we are very grateful for the faithful prayers of our supporters. If you would like to support and empower the work of SU Scotland in East and Midlothian through prayer, then please consider:

Holidays and Weekends

We are delighted to be able to run residential weekends and holidays again, and our annual East and Midlothian primary and secondary weekends are going ahead in March and May. SU Holidays have a full programme of Easter and Summer holidays with more information on their website: suholidays.org.uk. Holidays and Weekends are a fantastic opportunity for young people to 'get away from it all’ and enjoy a mixture of exciting activities, time to relax, good food and learning about the Bible.

Residentials require a wide variety of different team members including cooks, games leaders, group leaders, worship leaders, minibus drivers and general helpers. If you are interested in volunteering on an East and Midlothian weekend or another SU Scotland holiday, please get in touch.
