On Saturday we held the first of two 'Beauty for Ashes' training events for those with a heart for sharing God's love with disadvantaged children and young people in Scotland. It was a great day and a pleasure to welcome David Wiles from Frontier Youth Trust as our speaker - his ministry stories were incredibly inspiring, and I'd encourage anyone interested in Urban ministries to pick up a copy of his book 'Stories from the Edge'...

"I had a great day on Saturday, I always do at Beauty for Ashes. "I never miss it" was the comment of one delegate at the recent conference in Glasgow. Around sixty people gathered in the Queens Park Baptist Church dunny to enjoy Mars Bars, Tunnocks tea cakes and other local delicacies. While experiencing cultural relevance, the issues of working with young people on the edge were explored by the guest speaker David Wiles, and afternoon "talking shops" allowed participants to consider practical applications. The Barras showcased displays and books relevant to the ongoing work, and the afternoon closed with a great Glasgow version of Psalm 121."
