The McArthursWe love SU Holidays! We volunteer as group leaders, which means taking responsibility for a small group of young people for the week. It is amazing to spend time with them talking about God, having fun doing new activities, and being part of a unique Christian community for a week. It is so powerful to spend time together in God’s word and then see each other practically live it out! Over the years we have seen several young people become Christians, and many go much deeper in their faith!

This year at study camp we were involved in Digging Deeper sessions for young people who particularly wanted to grow in their relationship with God. We focussed on the spiritual disciplines, including topics like bible study, solitude and simplicity. We were encouraged that half the camp came along! Overall, we had a Elaine Wattbrilliant time and would definitely love to come again!

44 campers, 4 team children and 20 team members – and suddenly you have a full SU Holiday. Children coming from all corners of Scotland – from Ayr, Selkirk, Huntly, Thurso and lots of places in between, but the majority come from the Highlands and Islands. The team come from equally diverse places, but almost all with close ties to the Highlands. This is a holiday for P5-P7 children some of whom are away from home for the first time, others are returning to this camp for the third year running. Many of the team return year after year (Easter and summer), but new team members are welcomed each holiday. It’s a truly wonderful experience to be part of. One of the most encouraging aspects of our event this Easter occurred before breakfast each day when around two thirds of the camp came to the optional led Quiet Time. Amongst the many fun activities, the group times and evening meetings are special times when children explore the Christian faith through worship and teaching in a real and relevant way to them.
