SU Scotland loves residential events!

In some ways they are the place where our two key values - dependence on God and deeping relationships - are displayed most vibrantly. June to December allows plenty of opportunities to refine the skills of packing a car with luggage, boxes of resources, stationery, a laptop and a projector...

LeadUP is our training week for student aged young people involved in summer ministry. It was great to have with us this year five friends (right) who volunteer with Open Bible, Ukraine. Open Bible has regularly featured in this prayer news – please continue to pray for Grigori and the Open Bible staff team. Pray also for peace and stability in Ukraine.

As part of the SU Holidays summer programme I lead events at Glenshee for P5-7 children and Lendrick Muir for S1-3 young people. That same week at Lendrick Muir we are also blessed to have Elaine Watt from Inverness co-lead an event for primaries. As always there is much to give thanks for including the opportunity to explore the Bible, the physical and spiritual protection that God provides, the provision of the centres and of course all the committed volunteers who serve as group leaders, trainee leaders, catering team members and travel leaders.

The COmMISSION Review Weekend for those trained through a Basecamp or LeadUP event allows time to reflect on how we saw God at work in us and others and how we will be intentional in our discipleship over the next year.

The Treasure Island weekend was fully booked with 32 P5-7 children joining us in the search for the Mighty GodSword… which we eventually discovered was actually the Mighty God’s word! Please pray that the fun of the weekend feeds back into school SU Groups and more booking on an SU Holiday.

The Go Conference, SU Scotland’s national discipleship conference for S4-6 pupils, had 100 young people booked – give thanks! With a focus on the book of Daniel our prayer is that the event inspires those attending to take a stand for Jesus in their schools and amongst their peers.

Back into the programme this year is an S1-6 weekend camp. Called Shout! we will explore the book of Acts looking at people who had stories of Jesus to shout about. This event, co-led by me and Alan Myles (Regional Worker – Moray & South Highlands), is open to people from both our regional areas. It looks like demand for places will be high! Please pray for us as we plan and draw together a team.

The year end event from 28-30 December is Christmas Houseparty for S4-19 years old and is a mix of Bible teaching, fellowship, party and relaxation.
