On 12th July, a team of 10 young people and leaders will travel to Rwanda to work alongside Scripture Union Rwanda. This is not the first trip of its kind that SU Scotland have been involved in, having previously supported trips led by Urban Saints in 2013, 2015 and 2017. There has been an established relationship between SU in Scotland and Rwanda for the past 6 years, with General Director Jean-Baptiste Bugiruwenda having visited Scotland in 2014 and 2017.

The Scottish team will spend 3 weeks visiting SU groups, running sessions in nursery schools, helping lead camps and supporting local volunteers. A number of the team are also part of SU’s ‘COmMission’ programme of leadership training so will have plenty of opportunities to develop their leadership skills and qualities whilst in Rwanda.

Through this trip it is hoped that the partnership between SU Scotland and SU Rwanda will be further strengthened and developed. As well as supporting the ministries of SU Rwanda and providing encouragement and practical help, the trip aims to challenge the Scottish young people in their own walk with God and to consider how they can better serve Him in their own communities back home. A number of participants from previous trips have gone on to be involved in various mission opportunities, both in the UK and abroad.
