Saturday December 9th was a very special day for Open Bible (SU), Ukraine, when approx. 200 people gathered at their campsite in the village of Vorzel to give thanks to God and to celebrate the rich blessings many young, and older, people from around the world have enjoyed there over the past 20 years.  The programme for the day was put together and delivered expertly and entertainingly by the current talented young volunteers.  Friendships were renewed and deepened and many stories of blessings were shared.   Among them, the articulated lorry of humanitarian aid from Scotland in 1997 was remembered.  The gift of a beautiful wooden communion goblet, hand carved by Rolf Buwert in Dumfries, was presented from SU Scotland in acknowledgement of the developing partnership between the two Movements.  Robin MacLellan, Michael Rowe and Phyllis Caldwell were the team representing SU Scotland.

Give thanks and pray for Nikolai Nikolavich, Chairman of Open Bible, who is a Baptist Pastor in the war zone in Donetsk region (eastern Ukraine). This summer they ran 3 tented camps, in spite of the hostilities, in an old disused quarry.  Young volunteers from Open Bible in Kiev traveled the long distance to help set up the campsite.  Each camp had 150 children or young people:  the first was for older young people; the second for children aged 9 – 12; the third for teenagers 13 - 16 years.  Many received Christ – praise the Lord!

The devastating war in east Ukraine has had some positive consequences, bringing churches together to serve, help and support many who have been badly affected, including soldiers.

Prayer for the continuing work of Open Bible is appreciated and valued.
