We were delighted that our LaunchPad events held over the spring attracted such wide audiences. With over 100 at each of the Glasgow and Edinburgh events and 50 in each of Aberdeen and Inverness; the desire for holiday club training around our nation is clear!

It has been a real privilege to be able to serve the church across Scotland with training and resourcing key individuals for missional holiday clubs. The LaunchPad days offered teaching, encouragement and input to us as leaders in the first instance, before offering us training led by experienced practitioners across many subject areas including:

  • using sport to engage missionally
  • dealing with challenging behaviour
  • setting up a club from scratch
  • creative craft
  • songs and music
  • small group learning
  • family events
  • helping children to pray
  • follow-up strategy

The days were geared around the highly popular resource Fit for a King produced by SU Scotland; which has sought to give churches a tool to missionally engage the children in their communities alongside the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer. We have been delighted with the extremely positive feedback received from the days and will seek to utilise this as we plan ahead for how we may serve churches more effectively into 2015. Comments made have included:

"Friends from church came and were very encouraged; great to see agencies working together." "Thoroughly enjoyed the day – thanks for subsidising the cost! "This was my first time – an excellent day, very practical and well run." “Met my expectations more than I expected!”
