Through a connection to one of the actual racing drivers, a friend and fellow SU Scotland supporter managed to get us cheap(ish) tickets to the Formula One race in Austria. This can only mean one thing… Boys' Holiday!
So, this is the plan for July: Get together an epic playlist (iTunes
3.5%), then hop on the train to Edinburgh Airport (Trainline 1.5%). We fly out to Munich (Aer Lingus 1.12%) with a quick overnight stay in an airport hotel (Expedia 6%), before renting a convertible (Sixt 5%).
Next, we go out of our way to take advantage of the German Autobahn (where I shall be finding out how fast the rental car goes), then, roof down, meander through the Austrian mountains, along some of the greatest alpine driving roads in Europe. Oooo, ooo, ooo, we should buy matching outfits (Matalan 2.5%)!
Accommodation awaits in Gratz (Ebookers.com 6%) which is within striking distance of the Red Bull Ring where the race takes place. Then on the Monday, travel back, via some touristy stuff, to Glasgow, and on Tuesday… work.
Oh, and I need to make sure we get some flowers for our wives – as a thank you for being OK with the trip (Interflora 3%).
You may have noticed I have some percentages next to company names above. Each company will freely donate that percentage to SU Scotland if you visit their websites through www.giveasyoulive.com.
If I was to add our trip up, we could raise £70(ish) for SU Scotland – all for free! Now imagine the amount which could be raised if all 1,300 monthly visitors to the SU Scotland website booked their holidays, bought their presents or changed their utility providers through Give as you Live.
It is free. It is easy. It raises money which will be used to help young people explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.
If you are game, please visit www.giveasyoulive.com/join/SUScotland to join.
I should probably buy a map (Amazon 1.5%).
