Imagine you belong to a small church with an aging population of members and you are one of only a handful of young people who attend the Bible Class group, in a small room, in the church building each Sunday while the main church service takes place. A member of the church faithfully takes the Bible class each week.

Now, imagine you are the parent of one of the young people and have faithfully taken your family along to church. You’re just thankful they are still willing to get out the door, on time for church, each Sunday. You’re grateful to the volunteer who leads the Bible Class each week and you have peace of mind that the Bible teaching is in safe hands.

Now imagine it all stops.

No church and no Bible Class.

How are you feeling as the young person?

How are you feeling as the parent?

What happens to the young person during this Covid storm?

Where does the parent turn to for the Bible engagement for their child while the waves crash down on life and church?

Both young people and parents need to know about SU Scotland’s Spotlight and Equip Online events.

During Lockdown 1 back in March 2020, the staff at SU Scotland were quick to mobilize and take Equip events online. Since then, Spotlight and Equip East, West and North have provided young people a monthly event which allows them to interact with other young people and think biblically about important issues facing them in today’s culture.

Now we are in Lockdown 2 and Spotlight and Equip Online are ready to, once again, launch into the stormy waters and support young people through the difficulties of the current situation.

We’re not all in the same boat. We’re all in the same (Covid) storm.

We’re all having to navigate in different shaped boats.

Spotlight and Equip Online hope to support parents, providing them with confidence in events that aim to help young people remain engaged with the Bible and stay afloat during this most difficult storm.

Jesus is walking in the mist of storm. And the storm will ease. Until then we keep afloat, fixing our eyes, guiding our boats towards him.
