SU Scotland has recently received a gift of £500, raised purely from the sale of old stamps!

Stamp collecting is one of the most well-known hobbies - from the joy of collecting to the ability to make new friends, lots of people love stamp collecting. A used stamp that many consider trash may be a very rare treasure to someone who enjoys adding the unusual pieces of art to his or her collection. It is from this hobby that stamps are given worth and value, and how one of our supporters, Alistair Lawson, is able to sell them to raise funds for SU Scotland.

Alistair, along with other supporters, has been collecting and selling stamps to raise money for SU Scotland for many years now, and would like to encourage more people to take up this simple, yet effective, activity.

How can you help?
  1. Collect the used stamps from letters you receive (especially old or foreign stamps)
  2. Encourage friends and family to do the same (especially those that live overseas)
  3. Send your collection of stamps to Lendrick Muir, where Alistair will collect them and sell them on
  4. If you have an interest in stamps and live in the central belt of Scotland, Alistair would welcome volunteers who can help to sort out the stamps that are sent in. To find out more please contact Alistair.
