Since the start of 2009, SU campers from across Scotland have raised in incredible £6,600 to help build a new campsite in Tajikistan for Scripture People (their Scripture Union).
This fundraising project, proposed by the SU Scotland International Committee, was taken to all of our camps in 2009, and is continuing for 2010 with the focus on raising money to go towards toilets, trees and topsoil at the campsite.
So far, both leaders and campers have got onboard with this worthy cause and we have seen some great fundraising ideas so far.
One leader announced he would shave off his beard at camp if his campers could raise £50. So when they raised over £100, it called for action and he shaved off his hair as well as his beard.
Before & After Gifted
A group of campers from Music Camp last summer used their skills to make a CD to raise money for the project. Not content with that, they are also in the process of creating a new CD to sell at this summer's camps and the Big Celebration in August. Keep an eye out and make sure you buy your copy...
Thank you so much to everyone who has been involved in this fundraising project so far. We've been delighted to see the active response of the campers, and the range of skills and creativity that have been used to support this cause so far.
We've still got a whole summer of camps ahead of us so get thinking about what you could be doing to help too. If you have any great ideas let us know, and we'd love to have your stories of any fundraising that you are involved with.
