Scripture Union exists in over 130 countries worldwide and for 12 days at the end of August we had the privilege of hosting 7 guests from 4 of those international movements.

Six months and more in the planning resulted in 12 wonderful days of blessings that enriched our lives. At the first event we were delighted to host and welcome former International Committee members and friends, who have supported and encouraged SUI over many years, to the special International Meal on 18 August at Lendrick Muir. It was a lovely evening, accompanied by gentle music provided by Serenna and Emily MacLellan.

The next day came the Big Celebration which was a fantastic event celebrating the 150th anniversary of SU’s global ministry. It was a very special day of rich blessings, giving thanks and praise to God for His faithfulness.

We were enormously encouraged to hear how He has blessed individuals and the ministry of movements around the world, often through reciprocal visits, by allowing SU the privilege of sharing His good news with children and young people. It’s fantastic to be part of this amazing Global Family.

This was followed by ten active days of travelling around the country to share about their ministry. From a Christian bikers hub in Kilmarnock to an Alpha group in a Falkirk coffee shop; from the 150th celebration in Inverness to a youth event in Edinburgh; services in Cowdenbeath, Crieff and Glasgow, and many more places in between.

We are grateful for the very warm, enthusiastic welcomes we received wherever we went, and are deeply appreciative of the supportive interest, committed prayers and financial giving.

We thank God for these wonderful opportunities to increase awareness of the wide ranging ministry of SU in Scotland and internationally. We hope to continue to build on these partnerships with visits in the future – if you’d like to hear more, get in touch.

We couldn’t have done it without the help of many SU Scotland staff, especially Gail McLay and willing volunteers. A huge thank you to everyone involved, for helping to enrich our lives. We trust this was also your experience.
