Full-time post: £26,676-£28,567 (dependent on experience) plus pension scheme
Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see the children and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity, with around 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, and churches.
We are seeking a full-time Regional Worker to deliver SU Ministry across the Scottish Borders. Working closely with existing staff in Scotland, and with local Borders volunteers and churches, the worker will be expected to
- develop and oversee SU Scotland’s ministry in schools, through the formal and informal curriculum though SU groups and RO events
- play a leading part in developing weekend and week-long residentials for young people
- working with local churches to promote church & community mission
- help children and young people be disciples of Jesus
We are looking for a candidate with experience of schoolswork and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; someone who has led teams of volunteers and is a confident communicator of Biblical truth with a wide age range of young people.
You should be based in the Scottish Borders, and prepared to support SU ministry in all parts of the region. There is the option to work from a home office; otherwise local office provision will be made. Admin support will be provided from the Edinburgh office and regular visits to the Edinburgh office will be essential. You will also provide support to the Berwickshire Christian Youth Trust staff, with whom we work in partnership.
For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your dedication and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
