SU Scotland – Regional Worker Glasgow
Full-time post: £26,152-28,006 (dependent on experience) plus pension scheme
Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see the children and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity, with around 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, and churches.
We are seeking a full-time Regional Worker to deliver SU Ministry across Glasgow. Working closely with existing staff in Scotland and volunteers in Glasgow, the worker will be expected to
- develop and oversee SU Scotland’s ministry in schools, through the formal and informal curriculum though SU groups and RO events.
- play a leading part in developing weekend and week-long residentials for young people.
- working with local churches to promote church & community mission
- help children and young people be disciples of Jesus
- advance SU Scotland’s commitment to ‘prioritise the disadvantaged’ within the Glasgow area
We are looking for a candidate with experience of schools work and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; someone who has led teams of volunteers and is a confident communicator of Biblical truth with a wide age range of young people.
The worker should be willing to work from our head office base in Glasgow, and be prepared to support SU ministry in all parts of the city. Glasgow is an urban area of Scotland with a large proportion of urban priority areas as well as leafy suburbs. We work closely with the Wheel Trust and Junction 12. Some part time admin help is provided.
For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
