CHIEF EXECUTIVE

(based in Glasgow)

£49283 - £53861

Our present Chief Executive is retiring in the spring and we are now recruiting his successor. The successful candidate will stand in a long line of very able people who have served God in Scotland as leaders of SU. We are excited by the idea of someone who will take what has been done in the past and will develop that leadership into the future, growing the organisation in new ways as we seek to serve God together.

You will provide inspirational and effective leadership, both spiritual and strategic, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in partnership with the Leadership Team and the Board in accordance with the aims, beliefs, ethos and working principles of Scripture Union.

The Team of staff and volunteers are passionate about seeing the children and young people of Scotland explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus. To lead them you must demonstrate a mature, committed Christian faith and a track record of leadership within the context of personal, family, church life and previous employment. Alongside this will be your outstanding interpersonal skills, a servant heart and an ability to develop a high performing senior team.

All our work is shaped by our God given vision and values of dependence on God and deepening relationships.

Leading our organisation will be an exciting, challenging and very rewarding experience so, if you think God may be calling you to work with us, we would love to hear from you.
For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
