Centre Manager

Gowanbank, Darvel, East Ayrshire

Salary: £28,006 - £30,196 (dependent on experience) plus generous employer pension contributions

We are preparing to open a new SU Scotland residential centre at Gowanbank in Darvel, East Ayrshire and are looking to recruit a talented individual (or perhaps a couple considering a job share) to be our first Centre Manager(s).

This role offers a rare opportunity to help shape the future for this existing new ministry facility as well as being responsible for the smooth operation and development of Gowanbank: everything from leadership to laundry, marketing to maintenance, activities to administration, catering to customer service, safety to support raising. We hope you are versatile!

The successful candidate(s) will have proven leadership skills with strong experience in managing teams and individuals, operational delivery and customer focus.  Candidates should be mature Christians able to support the spiritual leadership of a small team of staff and volunteers.  Candidates should also demonstrate wider organisational, administration and communication skills.  You will be an excellent team player, motivated self-starter and can work well under pressure.

SU Scotland is a national charity, with almost 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers.  Our shared vision is to see the children and young people of Scotland explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus.  In addition to our work in schools, with churches and at SU holidays we run two residential activity centres and two seasonal campsites.  This ministry is growing year on year and Gowanbank is the latest chapter in this exciting story.

For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation.  It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
