- Salary: £750 per month, plus accommodation and generous pension scheme
Contract: Fixed term/Full time – Two year training programme based at our outdoor centres
WHO we are
Scripture Union Scotland is a registered charity that desires to see every child and young person in Scotland explore the Bible and respond to the significance of Jesus. We have exciting opportunities for Trainee Activities Instructors, based at two of our activity centres in Scotland.
Our centres regularly host school groups participating in residential experiences, youth groups enjoying weekend breaks and a variety of SU Holidays. Making the most of the stunning opportunities that Scotland’s countryside affords, we use outdoor activities to build relationships with young people, enabling them to have fun, develop new skills and work together. This is a unique opportunity to learn outdoor instructional skills on the job while gaining the fuller experience of being part of a centre community. Throughout your training you will be mentored by an experienced instructor, and you will also be paid an allowance each month.
As a Trainee Activities Instructor, you will be working as part of the activity team, learning to lead outdoor sessions for our guests and helping to maintain the equipment and infrastructure. You will have the chance to work towards several NGB qualifications as well as gain on the job instructional and group work skills. Qualifications might include: outdoor first aid, paddlesports, archery, mountain bike and Velotech silver award.
- Play an integral part of the outdoor instructional team, supporting outdoor activity sessions
- Undertake on the job training as well as work towards NGB qualifications
- Look after guests during school residentials, including some evening work
- Get involved in all aspects of centre life
- Take part in SU Scotland team meetings and Centre prayer meetings and Bible studies
