Join with others across Europe to focus prayer for your local school on Pray Day!

What can you do in your area to mark Pray Day?  Here are a few suggestions, whether you are a pupil, a teacher, a parent/grandparent, or part of a prayer group.

Pray Day for pupils

  • Meet up with Christian friends or your youth group to pray before or after school.
  • Organise a lunchtime drop-in prayer room and invite pupils and staff.

Pray Day for SU groups

  • Mobilise your SU group to hold a special Pray Day event at school.  Hold an assembly, turn a room into a prayer space with interactive prayer stations and display a prayer box for requests that can be prayed for later.
  • Meet as an SU group to pray for each other.  Pray aloud, or write down prayers and then read them out.  Write down individual prayer needs and post in a prayer box, to be prayed for later by the SU group leaders.

Pray Day for school staff

  • Meet as school staff to pray before or after the school day, praying for particular pupils by name.

Pray Day for parents and grandparents

  • Invite other mums, dads, grans and grandpas round for coffee and pray together for your children and grandchildren, their teachers, their school friends and other needs.
  • Phone your local HT, tell her you are praying, and ask what the needs of the schools are - is it staff shortages, behavioural issues, budget cuts?
  • Walk round your local school building and pray for school staff and pupils.

Pray Day for prayer groups

  • Meet on Pray Day instead of your normal meeting time.
  • Open your church after school and invite church members, pupils and school staff to drop in to pray at various prayer stations.

Email pray@suscotland.org.uk to share how you marked Pray Day in your local community, and to check if your school is registered with Pray for Schools Scotland.
