What about finance?
What about finance?
There are costs involved in doing a gap year, and here's how it works:
| Personal allowance of £37 per week |
£2000 |
| Contribution towards food of £25 per week |
£1250 |
| Contribution towards training |
£1000 |
| Travel, Admin, Materials, Equipment |
£500 |
This gives a total of £4750 as your target for support raising.
More Information
Accommodation: You will be provided with accommodation on your gap year, either at one of the Centres, or with a host family if you are on a schools-plus placement.
Training: The training you receive is heavily subsidised; and includes Archery, First Aid and training in how to communicate with children and teenagers in a school group setting or during a residential event. You will finish the year with some nationally recognised qualifications, and also an in-house training record of other areas you've covered and where you have reached a level of competence.
How do I go about raising support?
You should check out with your church or fellowship whether or not they are willing to back your application. They may be able to help you with your support-raising. You should also speak to friends and family who might be willing to commit to praying for you and supporting you financially. Once you have been offered a place on our gap year programme, we will send you a support-raising pack with your achnowledgement letter. This will include guidelines and ideas on how to raise support.
We expect you to have 75% of the total given or promised (in the case of standing orders) before you start on gap year.
