Local Projects
Over the years, SU Scotland has seen how work that started through opportunities to work in local school and take children and young people away on holiday has grown into a more community based approach with more opportunity to influence lives
Junction 12
Junction 12 is a Youth Project based in the East End of Glasgow
that has now been established as a separate charity. The project
aims to establish and develop caring and nurturing relationships
with 10 - 18 year olds in the Carntyne, Cranhill and Riddrie areas
of Glasgow and to enable to them to make positive and healthy
choices in every area of their lives.
J12 currently employs two full time workers, helped by a group of
committed volunteers who willingly give their time and energy to
the work and witness of J12.
The project offers a range of activities for local young people
within the schools and community. Working in partnership with local
churches, weekly activities include drop ins, emotional and
behavioral support groups, Scripture Union (SU) groups and outings,
detached work and annual residential events.

DIME
This is a volunteer-led project in Edinburgh called Discipleship
In Muirhouse Estate ("DIME"), which has pioneered work with young
people in Pilton and Muirhouse for over ten years. The work
which started in local primary schools has now grown to regular
Thursday evening meetings for different age groups of young.
These have given the opportunity to build significant relationship
with those living in the nearby estates helping them make better
life choices.
These young people regularly attend Motiv8 holidays as well as
going away on weekend breaks.
