Beatitudes

How does God want us to live? Do I need to give up loads of things to be a Christian? How can I find lasting happiness and satisfaction? What fills my life?

All of these questions and more are tackled in this short series based on the Beatitudes, Jesus' recipe for his followers on how to be truly blessed by God.

These sessions are geared at younger secondary pupils with little Bible knowledge or experience of the Christian faith. However, they could also be used with older pupils and those with a definite Christian faith.

Daniel

Daniel lived out his faith in a highly multi-cultural, multi-faith environment. To a certain extent, he adapted to the situation he found himself in, but he never compromised his faith.  As we see how he tackled the issues raised by living for God in the Babylonian and Chaldean empires, we can pick up tips on how to live for God in 21st Century Britain. This is a series probably more suited to older pupils who have a little understanding or experience of Christianity.

David

This four part series looks at three incidents in David's life: his anointing, the killing of Goliath and his affair with Bathsheba. I also looks at Psalm 145, an example of his writings about his experience of God. The material makes no assumptions about previous Bible knowledge and is aimed at the younger end of the secondary age group. The series makes use of DVD/video, photographs & pictures, Bible study and games. We suggest a flip chart page or similar is used during the series to record the lessons from David learned by the group.

New Term - New Start

A new term is full of new beginnings! Sometimes we face the new year with excitement and relief, glad to be putting the last year behind us; sometimes we face it with uncertainty and fear, not sure how we will cope with the days ahead.

A new start gives the opportunity to reflect again on the values that are important to us. It is also a time to remember that, despite all the changes around, God never changes and he continues to have standards for our lives.

This series will give your group a chance to look at what the Bible says about some of the issues that are central to life at school - change, rules, friends, gossip and attitudes.

Joseph

Families, disputes, jealousy, temptation, living for God, guilt, forgiveness, power and finding God in tough circumstances - all of these are issues that young people (and adults!) will encounter through their lives…

The Parables

Parables can run the risk of being simplified as children's stories or overlooked as being "too symbolic" for young people to grasp…

The Psalms

This series of four Psalms (Psalms 139, 32, 73 and 121) explores the Psalmist's relationship with God, particularly how he engaged with God at a personal level. It aims to encourage young people to engage with God for themselves…

James

2000 years ago, James wrote to Christians to encourage them to view life from God's perspective. It meant having to trust God, hold their nerve and often swim against the tide. Today, we face the same sort of issues and challenges. The book of James tells us to look at things God's way because what we see around us is often not the way that things really are. Are we prepared to look at life from God's point of view?
