Curriculum for Excellence

SU Scotland - Education and Schools - SU In Your School - A Curriculum for Excellence

Introduction

Curriculum for Excellence is a Scottish Government reformation that is transforming the way all those involved in education plan, devise and deliver their work. This programme encompasses all areas of the curriculum for all children and young people aged 3-18 years old.

The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is for every young person to become a successful learner, confident individual, responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

Schools are encouraged to deliver this through a "wide range of planned experiences". These may require "activities which span several disciplines". Schools are also encouraged to "look beyond their own expertise and resources" and to partner with external agencies in curriculum delivery.

As we continue to develop our support to schools in delivering Religious Observance (which enables spiritual development, acts of worship in the informal curriculum and chaplaincy), we are also adapting our ministry in order that it complements the purposes of Curriculum for Excellence.

The opportunities to work in schools, with schools and for the benefit of school communities is enormous. Because of our history and reputation for quality schools engagement, SU Scotland is in a unique position to take up this challenge, to serve schools and give children the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ.
